Greenbuilding, the international exhibition and conference on energy efficiency and sustainable architecture, and Greenbuilding Council Italia (GBC Italia) have signed an accord to jointly develop initiatives in support of high quality building featuring energy efficiency and low environmental impact.

Under the terms of the agreement, Greenbuilding Council Italia has chosen Greenbuilding, to will be held at the Verona Exhibition Centre on 5-7 May 2010, as its partner trade fair. Greenbuilding will therefore be the council’s preferred event nationwide for focusing its communication initiatives, which are essential for increasing awareness of the LEED energy efficiency standard.

Mario Zoccatelli, Chairman of GBC Italia, stated: “Along with Solarexpo, Greenbuilding has over the years attained national and international pre-eminence when it comes to sustainable architecture and renewable energy sources. It is therefore a natural partner for an association like GBC Italia, which works within a global network to combine local action with constant reference to international best practice. The LEED rating system, which is recognised across the sector, is an excellent benchmark for operators in all parts of the industry, from project architects to component producers and building companies, and is also an excellent starting point for a wider debate with the whole sustainability supply chain.”

Greenbuilding Council Italia and Greenbuilding have identified a common strategic interest in creating a structured and privileged relationship between the two organisations and expressed the desire to develop projects together in due time.

Luca Zingale, scientific director of Greenbuilding, said: “GBC Italia’s choice is an honour for us and a significant contribution to enhancing Greenbuilding’s reputation, which over the years has been cemented as the key trade fair in the field of sustainable architecture. I am sure that this agreement is only a first step towards a successful relationship in support of sustainable and ecological building.”

In 2010, Greenbuilding will again be held alongside Solarexpo, the international exhibition and conference on renewable energy and distributed generation, as way to continue offering a complete overview of products, technologies and solutions related to renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. Together, Greenbuilding and Solarexpo form Italy’s leading event for renewables and sustainable architecture: 1,300 exhibitors are expected at the forthcoming edition (35% from outside Italy) plus 70,000 visitors with the exhibitions covering 100,000 square meters.

Greenbuilding and Greenbuilding Council Italia will be at the Verona Exhibition Centre from 5-7 May 2010.
