At Intersolar 2015 (10-12 June in Munich), SolarEdge is presenting its expanding product portfolio for commercial and PV storage for residential systems.

SolarEdge provides an intelligent inverter solution that has changed the way power is harvested and managed in solar photovoltaic systems. The SolarEdge system consists of power optimizers, inverters and a cloud-based monitoring platform and addresses a broad range of solar market segments.

Since beginning commercial shipments in 2010, SolarEdge has shipped more than 1.4 GW of its DC optimized inverter systems and its products have been installed in PV systems in more than 70 countries.

StorEdge™ Solutions:

SolarEdge’s DC coupled storage solutions, StorEdge™, will provide energy independence by allowing home owners to maximize self-consumption and backup power. The solutions are designed to utilize a single SolarEdge DC optimized inverter to manage both PV and storage applications. Based on a joint development, the StorEdge™ solution is designed to be compatible with Tesla’s home battery solution, the Powerwall.

StorEdge™ will address self-consumption in the European markets with rates and subsidies supporting this type of application. In markets where the grid is congested, the SolarEdge solution is meant to act as a power backup system. In markets with time-of use electricity rates, the solution can further reduce homeowner electricity bills.

StorEdge™, with a shared PV and battery DC bus, is designed to reduce conversion losses as PV power is directly stored in a battery. As with all SolarEdge inverters, the solution includes SafeDC™ architecture. Requiring no special wires, utilizing the same PV cables, and allowing outdoor placement, StorEdge™ is designed for simple installation. Standard with StorEdge™ is a full monitoring solution that displays PV production, home consumption, and battery status in a single view.

All SolarEdge inverters, installed after January 2013, will be upgradable to support StorEdge™. The StorEdge™ solution is expected to be available by the end of 2015.

Extended Commercial Offering:

Moreover SolarEdge is extending its commercial offering with the launch of SE25K, SE27.6K, and SE33.3K three-phase inverters. These inverters are meant to minimize the number of required inverters and improve system ROI. All inverters have integrated safety, monitoring, and communication features.

Designed to operate with SolarEdge commercial power optimizers, the P600 and P700, the inverters are designed to allow up to 2.5 times longer strings compared to traditional inverters. The SE25K and SE27.6K will expand the inverter sizes for low voltage installations.

The SE33.3K is specifically designed for medium voltage connection through a transformer, making it suitable for large systems in which a transformer is installed on site. The inverters will be available for purchase with an optional integrated DC Safety Unit with a mechanical DC switch, DC surge protection (type II), and DC fuses (plus & minus), making redundant the need for external components such as DC isolators and DC protection devices. Like all SolarEdge inverters, the new inverters have a standard 12-year warranty, extendable to 20 or 25 years. The new inverters will begin shipping in Europe & APAC from July 2015.
